Welcome Jennifer Lorenzo SPELD NSW Educational and Developmental Psychologist

Educational-Assessments-SPELDNSW

Hello everyone! I am Jennifer, the new Educational and Developmental Psychologist at SPELD NSW. I joined the organisation in March 2020. I would like to express my gratitude to Georgina and the rest of the team for making me feel very welcome. Many thanks to the Dyslexia-SPELD Foundation of WA for their support as well.

Experience

Prior to being a part of SPELD NSW, I spent several years in a tertiary hospital; working with children, adolescents, and young adults with chronic conditions, cognitive deficits, and learning difficulties. In addition, I provided psychoeducation to parents/guardians to help deal with emotional and behavioural challenges in youths. My tenure also involved major contribution to longitudinal research examining the developmental trajectories of children from infancy to middle childhood.

Supporting Families at SPELD NSW

My role at SPELD NSW focuses on the provision of psycho-educational assessment to determine a person’s cognitive and academic profile, identify those who are at risk of learning problems, diagnose specific learning disorders, and recommend appropriate strategies to maximise one’s educational potential.

Educational Assessments

Expanded Services

We are delighted to expand our clinical services at SPELD NSW by offering psycho-educational assessments via telehealth. Children and adults can complete an evaluation in the comfort and safety of their home, using a secure videoconferencing platform. An online assessment has key benefits, such as its convenience, no travel requirements, and adherence to current social distancing rules.

Eventually, we hope to make both face-to-face and online assessment formats available at SPELD NSW. We believe these flexible options will provide individuals and families greater access to our clinical services.

I look forward to meeting SPELD NSW members, supporters, and families soon!
