Decodable Books and Resources

Little Learners Love Literacy is an explicit and sequential literacy program that teaches ALL children to read, write and spell with confidence. Created from evidence-based research, it includes phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary knowledge, fluency and comprehension. Speed Sounds and Chants are used in conjunction with the Pip and Tim, Wiz Kids and Big World Decodable Readers to make it easy for ALL children to learn to read. Each stage is sequentially taught so that children can learn, apply and practise their developing skills in words and connected text.

Pip and Tim Decodable Books Stages 1 – 7

Children love reading about the adventures of Pip and Tim. Beautifully illustrated books with great stories which children LOVE to read with words they CAN read! Each story is crafted by Berys Dixon to engage children with surprises and humour.

Carefully sequenced in 7 stages, each stage is levelled to support children as they move through the stages of learning to read. Each book has a How to use this book section which sets out the pedagogy, Speed sounds, Heart words, comprehension and vocabulary questions to talk about. Each stage has a small number of Heart words (high frequency words that children cannot decode at this stage and need to learn by heart).

Fox Kid is a new series of decodable chapter books specifically designed for older students who are having difficulties with reading and need extra practice to develop essential early reading skills. These books are in a graphic novel style and are ideal for students who are having difficulties with reading in years 2 to 4.
