Decodable Readers Australia produce a wide range of decodable books and fluency resources which kids love! The Decodable Readers are great resources for students in Kindergarten and Year One. Readers’ Theatre, Time to Shine Fluency Passages and the fiction and non-fiction Phonics Focus Stories allow students in Years 1 and 2 to develop their phonics decoding and fluency skills.

Decodable Readers Australia Early Reader Fiction Series

These great Australian adventures with the Decodable Readers Australia’s much loved Aussie characters are great for decodable texts for early readers in Kindergarten and Year One. There are 10 books in each level with words with just 3-4 sounds that are easy to decode by younger readers. The Decodable Readers Australia series follows the Letters and Sounds scope and sequence.

A wonderful tool to extend the phonic knowledge and skills of year one and two students!

Each pack contains Decodable Readers Australia Early Readers Extended Code Level 5 to Level 8 to provide Year One and Two classes with readers which give students the opportunity to practise vowel sounds and spellings. These readers can be used as part of classroom reading instruction and for differentiated instruction.

Decodable Readers Australia Non Fiction

This non-fiction series is a mixture of scientific facts and recounts about real world events, procedures and other informative information. All of these titles build knowledge and prompt rich discussions on relevant topics! The non-fiction texts have a word count than our Early Readers. Our Non-fiction Series contains 10 titles per level in most levels, with Level 1 and 2 combined.

These books are great for additional consolidation and practice of prior taught phonics once students are reading accurately and working on their fluency skills with longer decodables. We suggest that this is a good pack for Year 1 students.

Readers’ Theatre helps students build fluency, expression, and comprehension while having fun. By reading aloud with intonation and confidence, students practise accuracy and prosody without the need to memorise lines or use costumes.

Each boxed set in the Readers’ Theatre series contains 10 short decodable plays, each with two characters and a narrator. The wipe-clean A4 dry-erase boards come in sets of three copies per play (30 boards in total), making them ideal for small-group practice in Year 1–2 classrooms.

The Act It Out – Readers’ Theatre Pack is a great classroom fluency resource.

Each pack contains one or four boxes of the scripts for Levels 4 to 8. The scripts can be used in groups or as a classroom activity. There are 10 scripts in each level.

Fluency Passages

Time to Shine Fluency Passages make phonics-based fluency practice fun and motivating. Each passage is designed to give students targeted practice as new graphemes are introduced, helping them build decoding automaticity and confidence with freshly learned content.

Each A4 dry-erase card includes two passages: one simpler with lower word count and complexity, and one slightly more challenging. This means students of different abilities can practise the same phonics focus. Through repeated readings, students can track their progress. The wipe-clean format makes the cards reusable for regular classroom practice and are great for use in Years 1 and 2 classrooms.

Decodable Tales

This series of decodable readers is a collection of stories that widens students’ imaginations and engages them in a range of wonderful narratives. The Decodable Tales books have a lower word count than our Main Fiction Series but a higher word count than our Early Readers. They are excellent as additional practice and consolidation for students working beyond just CVC words. It is on par with our Non-fiction Series.
