Decodable Readers Australia produce a wide range of decodable books and fluency resources which kids love! The Decodable Readers are great resources for students in Kindergarten and Year One. Readers’ Theatre, Time to Shine Fluency Passages and the fiction and non-fiction Phonics Focus Stories allow students in Years 1 and 2 to develop their phonics decoding and fluency skills.

Decodable Readers Australia Early Reader Fiction Series

These great Australian adventures with the Decodable Readers Australia’s much loved Aussie characters are great for decodable texts for early readers in Kindergarten and Year One. There are 10 books in each level with words with just 3-4 sounds that are easy to decode by younger readers. The Decodable Readers Australia series follows the Letters and Sounds scope and sequence.

A wonderful tool to extend the phonic knowledge and skills of year one and two students!

Each pack contains Decodable Readers Australia Early Readers Extended Code Level 5 to Level 8 to provide Year One and Two classes with readers which give students the opportunity to practise vowel sounds and spellings. Act it Out - Readers' Theatre

Decodable Readers Australia have developed this great selection of Readers’ Theatre designed as resources to support the development of fluency.

These resources come in a handy box and are wipe clean to allow for frequent re-use. They are a great resource for a year 1 and 2 classrooms and students. There have 10 plays in this level. Each play has 2 characters and a narrator and the set has a copy of the script for all 3 students.

Decodable Act It Out – Readers’ Theatre scripts are a great way to build fluency. Readers’ Theatre is a popular instructional strategy that can improve student reading fluency. Students require repeated practice at reading their lines and learn to use intonation and expression. There’s no need for students to memorise lines or create fancy costumes. These plays help students improve reading comprehension, fluency, accuracy, and expression, plus they’re a lot of fun to present!

The Act It Out – Readers’ Theatre Pack is a great classroom fluency resource.

Each pack contains one or four boxes of the scripts for Levels 4 to 8. The scripts can be used in groups or as a classroom activity. There are 10 scripts in each level.

Fluency Passages and Phonics Focus Kits

The Time to Shine Fluency Passages are a great tool to use to build fluency at a phonics focus level. As each grapheme is introduced, these fluency passages allow for practice and building of decoding automaticity with newly introduced content.

Each Fluency card offers 2 passages. One easier one with lower word count and word complexity and then a passage that’s slightly more challenging. This allows for differing abilities of students but with the same focus. Students are timed as they read for one minute and their WCPM (words correct per minute) is recorded. Upon repeated readings, students try to improve on their score. The passages are printed on dry erase boards and whiteboard markers can be used on them and then rubbed off with tissues.

Phonics Focus Stories and Phonics Focus Fun Facts are great fiction and non-fiction resources to develop reading fluency within the extended phonics code. Each story in these kits puts the focus on one sound per story and has lots of words with alternative spellings for that sound.

The stories are printed on double sided dry erase flexi boards (folded) so that students have the ability to use whiteboard markers and mark the words with different spellings. The inside displays the full text/story and the back has comprehension questions and a Tier 2 vocabulary word.

Decodable Readers Australia Extended Code Chapter Series – Set 1

The Extended Code Chapters Series offers a range of beginner chapter books that have a phonics focus. This allows students to read engaging stories while practicing words with a focus sound and alternative spellings.

The focus graphemes are coloured in the words to assist students decoding and mapping the phoneme/grapheme correspondences. There are 14 engaging chapter books in Set 1 of the Extended Code Chapters Series.
