A Primary School Teacher and Specialist Dyslexia Tutor trained in Orton-Gillingham, Georgea supports students with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties.
“I am committed to helping each child have access to an equitable education and will ensure that each child will experience success” – Georgea Matthews
A primary school teacher by trade, Georgea was trained in New York by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) and qualified as an Orton-Gillingham teacher and tutor.
She travelled to Bangkok to open an Orton-Gillingham program for dyslexic students at an international school but she knew she needed to bring her expertise to students back home in Sydney.
Georgea continues to teach and tutor both students in Sydney as well as internationally via Skype, supporting those who simply learn differently.
In 2015, Georgea joined SPELD NSW and brings her passion for equitable education as well as her teaching and advocacy skills.
As Secretary of SPELD NSW, Georgea contributes to the positive partnerships of educators, parents and the community to deliver support to students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia across New South Wales.
