Amanda holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary) and has worked in both Catholic and Public schools in NSW. Throughout her career, she has been a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, Learning and Support Teacher and EAL/D teacher. Amanda is passionate about the science of reading and was instrumental in driving change to ensure evidence-based practices be implemented so that all students could benefit from explicit and systematic teaching of reading, writing and spelling. Amanda is excited to be part of the team at SPELD NSW.
Her mantra is “Equal doesn’t mean everybody is treated the same. Equal means everybody gets what they need.” Amanda strives to build the capacity of parents and teachers so they can best support their children and students. She enjoys working with people from many different backgrounds and feels very privileged to be working for a not-for-profit who support people with learning difficulties.
