SPELD NSW in Wagga Wagga!

## Update – We are pleased to let teachers know that The Fluency Puzzle workshop being held on 22 February is now NESA Accredited. ##

We are very excited that SPELD NSW is reaching out to regional areas of NSW in 2023, starting with a 3 day visit to Wagga Wagga to deliver our highly engaging professional learning courses.

On Tuesday 21st February we will run our full day course, “What the English K-2 syllabus looks like in the classroom”.  We provide teachers with explicit examples of end of stage student profiles, knowledge of key concepts and terminology in the new syllabus and practical examples of how to start teaching the syllabus content in the classroom. We look at assessments that help us measure progress against the outcomes and we also consider what reporting might look like under this new syllabus. It is an interactive day and the PL team is here to answers your questions!

Following this full day session stay for a decodable resources demonstration. We can answer your questions around resourcing for the new syllabus and how to select decodable readers for your classroom.

On Wednesday 22nd February we call on learning support teachers and interventionists to join us for a deep dive into how to reading in the course From Words to Texts: Strategies to Support Reading Difficulties. This course is a hands-on course with lots of strategies, routines and practical tips for supporting students who are struggling to progress in their reading. We start at the word level and finish with fluency and vocabulary. This course is aimed to really empower teachers and tutors with a high level of knowledge to impact on student outcomes.

On Thursday 23rd February we are running The Fluency Puzzle which is aimed at classroom teachers teaching Years 2 -6 and teachers working with struggling readers in high school. Another highly practical professional learning course that promises to engage and challenge our understanding of how to develop oral reading fluency.

We finish our visit to Wagga Wagga with a parent information evening on learning difficulties and how SPELD NSW can support parents, carers and communities.

We invite to you to come and meet the team and enjoy one of our quality professional learning courses in Wagga Wagga in Term 1 2023! We will be returning in Term 4 with other courses so don’t miss out on our first visit.
