SPELD NSW offers professional learning, resources and support for classroom teachers, learning support teachers, aides and school leaders in all sectors of New South Wales schools.

Our professional learning calendar is designed for educators and professionals to help children with difficulties in reading, writing, maths and attention. Our workshops focus on evidence based literacy and numeracy instruction which can help all students in your classroom and practical skills you can use with your students everyday.  

Professional Learning

SPELD NSW provides professional learning for teachers, tutors, speech pathologists and psychologists. Our workshops focus on evidence-based literacy and numeracy instruction and best-practice approaches to teach and support students with specific learning difficulties like dyslexia. 

Letters and Sounds Face-to-Face Workshop

This two day interactive workshop provides teachers with a working knowledge of the six phases of Letters and Sounds from the oral language activities through to reading and writing fluency.

Professional Supervision Series – Term 2, 2021

This series of professional supervision is designed for small groups (6-8) of currently registered Psychologists keen to improve their skills in the assessment and identification of specific learning disorders using DSM-5 criteria.

Literacy Essentials Online: Spell Check Please! – Developing Confident Spellers

Learning to spell is a complex task that requires a deep knowledge of how the English language works. In this course, we consider a framework for spelling instruction that will help students approach unknown and novel words in their writing.

SPELD School Essentials SeriesWe come to you - onsite workshops at your locationWe can visit your school to deliver professional learning to classroom teachers, learning support teams and school leaders. The School Essentials Series gives you an opportunity to offer professional learning to a large group of teachers, your whole school or region for maximum impact and cost effectiveness. Choose one workshop or book the full series. School Essentials Series Workshops sessions are 2- 3 hours. NESA Approved.

You can purchase decodable readers, C-Pens, phonemic awareness kits, Understanding Learning Difficulties guides and other literacy and numeracy resources for schools, teachers, tutors, speech pathologists and families.  

Schools can purchase resources through our online store or email us with your order. We will invoice your school for you to pay later. SPELD NSW members receive discounts on decodable readers and other resources.

Decodable Reader Classroom Packs and School DemonstrationsClassroom Packs of Decodable Readers are a great solution for Kindergarten to Year 2 classrooms and for teachers working to support struggling readers in Years 3 to 8. Classroom packs are a great way to help your students practise decoding and other phonics skills at their ability level.

If you are interested in purchasing decodable readers from us, SPELD NSW can visit your school to demonstrate different series of decodable readers. We are also happy to loan you a sample pack of decodable books to consider.
