Tutor Literacy Connection (TLC)

Our Aim:

The aim of TLC is to support tutors and other professionals as they strive to support others. All SPELD NSW tutors and professionals are invited to attend TLC Meetings!

"I commend the initiative of SPELD in establishing T.L.C as a vehicle for bringing together professional business men and women committed to addressing the needs of those with SLD. Too often it is the fundamentals in life that we take for granted, one of which is the innate ability to learn. Whatever our circumstances in life there is nothing more important than assisting another human being and helping them to succeed. TLC will be an enjoyable and beneficial way of helping others" Dr Brendan Nelson MP, former Minister for Education, Science and Training

What is TLC?:

  • TLC is a network for professionals whose common link is helping children with learning difficulties
  • TLC is a subset of SPELD, with groups based in local areas around Sydney and in regional NSW
  • TLC is a group who meet to learn, update, share and support each other
  • TLC meetings usually have a guest speaker - often a lecturer or other professional who donate their time to TLC
  • TLC usually meets 3-4 times a year with meetings open to all professionals (and parents by invitation)

Is TLC for you?

TLC is a way to come out of "isolation" and get to meet other tutors and professionals interested in keeping up to date with the latest research for Professional Development, relaxing with other tutors, encouraging, sharing and caring in friendship and getting motivated. It is an informal gathering for those of us who want to feel connected and network with others.

TLC is growing rapidly due to the demand for professional development, beneficial networking, the support of our colleagues and the caliber of the wonderful speakers and lecturers who so generously give their time and effort in coming to us with their knowledge.
